What The Heck is RDA?

Good question! RDA stands for Revolve Digital Archiving. Next question - "Why should I care? Another good question - lets tell a story.

Once upon a time (or whatever), a young man in his early 30s got the chance to start a business. It was called Revolve He envisioned a local resource for musicians and businesses to assist with CD/DVD needs. Remember those? And yes, that was a while ago. 2003, in fact.

Fast forward to 2022. The same young man still owns Revolve - and of course, is not that young anymore :) Since the early 2000s, Revolve has been known around the Richmond, VA region as a local shop for CD/DVD duplication (not as much anymore on that one) and THE place to go to restore and digitize family memories. Why mail away your memories? Revolve remains a local alternative for VHS to DVD, Video Conversion, Film Transfer, Audio Format Transfers, Slide Scanning - basically all things to do with family memories.

Over the years, we would regularly encounter large collections of media from businesses, religious organizations, government agencies and more. These projects required specific digitizing techniques and the necessity of a digital archive that was easily accessible and searchable.

That brings us to the creation of RDA. A separate division of Revolve - one that specializes in large collections of old media to be preserved. 8mm/16mm Film conversion, audio format transfer, videotape conversion and more. An excellent solution for museums, religious organizations, libraries, government agencies and yes, the family archivist who is in charge of getting Dads enormous film and photo library digitized.

Life is our own library - filled with ideas, accidents, love, humor and spirit. Let's remember what makes it all joyfull. More details to come.
